Treading On Another’s Tyres

In a case argued by Remfry & Sagar, the Delhi High Court once again recognised that proprietary rights can vest in the tyre tread pattern of a truck (Apollo Tyres Limited v. Pioneer Trading Corporation & Ors. CS(COMM) 594/2022). The court confirmed Apollo Tyres’ (one of the leading tyre manufacturers in the world) interim injunction motion (issued in August 2022) and restrained the defendants from passing off the unique tread pattern of Apollo Tyres with regard to the latter’s ‘ENDURACE LD 10.00 R20 truck tyres’.
