Our latest IPHour focused on the IT Rules, 2021: Intermediary Guidelines & Digital Media Ethics Code. Partners Vishnumohan Rethinam and Cyril Abrol analysed the applicability and purpose for the introduction of the IT Rules, 2021, the due diligence requirements to avail safe harbour protection and the applicability of the code of ethics to digital media agencies. They also discussed the ongoing legal tussle between social media intermediaries, digital media agencies, over the top platforms and the Indian government which is currently before the Indian Supreme Court.
