IPBC India 2017
Taj Lands End Hotel, Mumbai

India is a fascinating IP market that is growing at an unprecedented pace. Robust debate over pharmaceuticals, software and standards makes for a vibrant IP policy environment, but should not overshadow the strong protection available to high-tech R&D and manufacturing companies. Complexities abound, and rights holders need strategic knowledge to maximise their success in the jurisdiction. It was against this background that the IAM held the first IPBC India at the Taj Lands End Hotel, Mumbai on February 28 2017.
The event was a huge success and brought together over 170 senior executives from the corporate, research and governmental communities for a packed day of high-level discussion, hours of unrivalled networking and business opportunities.
Remfry & Sagar was one of the sponsors and Pankaj Soni (Partner) led a panel discussion on IP Risk Management. Others on the panel represented the European Patent Office, Indian pharma innovator Biocon, Dolby Laboratories, Questel, noted software major Wipro and the Open Invention Network. Discussions covered internal company strategies to harness IP not just as a legal right but a fundamental business asset. Also addressed were external challenges including those arising from the Indian IP Office.
